Female circumcision, where the clitoris and sometimes other parts of the vulva are removed for non medical reasons, is common practice in parts of Africa, Asia and the Middle East.
Tragically this is no joke.

Please don’t even begin to “educate” me about female circumcision. I am against all forms of infant circumcision and have known about the issues since the late 1990′s.
The fact is this isn’t funny, it’s downright hateful.

I don’t care how much you believe in “patriarchy” theory, I don’t care what you think about what happened in the past, but if you are going to openly support a double standard in terms of mutilation or violence between men and women then I will have nothing to do with any site you open up in the future. And you can turn in any “feminist” card you may be carrying as well as feminism is about equality, not denying women’s agency. Men and women may be different but they are both adults under the law (not children) and, as much as possible should be held to the same standards of behavior. Censor this comment if you want. Easy, bruiser. I saw this video as a humorous way to promote animal neutering (a good cause!), not because I actually hate balls. Actually, I rather enjoy Stefan’s balls- I even have pet names for them. It seems like that should have come through, but it obviously didn’t! So there you have it. I hope this helps to explain the purpose of the post — just a laugh in the name of a good cause. Let’s everyone lighten up, eh?

Simply because I don’t find jokes about castrating all men or messing with all women’s genitals funny?
Perhaps if every now and then on the news we didn’t hear of some nutty or evil woman cutting her man’s junk off because she thinks he cheated on her, or maybe he was getting a divorce or whatever and then have to put up with the ridiculous jokes at the victim’s expense (they were cracking at the guy’s expense on that show “The View” this year while he was in the hospital..classy) – that is, if you can overlook the tons of “he probably deserved it” comments from hither and yon and deal only with the people who acknowledge there’s a victim. If this stuff didn’t have real world consequences perhaps it would be easy to “lighten up” on it, but we live in a culture where you still have to tell some women that punching your spouse in the face (Referring to the Kardasian punch) is domestic violence.

By your own standards you were equally guilty when you made your “joke” about vulvas. Unlike the lighthearted ad, your comment was made with malice. You can’t have it both ways.
Since you don’t want me to “educate” you about female circumcision, I won’t bother to tell you that most female circumcision happens around age eight (not at infancy) as a rite of passage into womanhood, quite often with crude instruments and sans anesthesia.
Finally, if you don’t like the way this discussion is going, I leave you with this quote from Abraham Lincoln: “It is best to remain silent and appear a fool than to speak and remove all doubt.”

I laughed a lot at this. I’m a male, and I didn’t see it as anything but a very funny way to promote a worthy cause. Now I’m not so sure. I’m feeling very vulnerable. LOL.

Please, everyone take a deep breath, pull back and don’t fight each other… Let there be peace here. Go easy on Clarence, he’s a well intentioned individual, a believer in justice, and obviously sensitive to this issue. Everyone has their reasons, and he does make some good points.
I know, however, that Audrey’s post was not meant to offend, nor was it with hateful intent. Audrey has proven to me she is a woman of compassion and would never truly support such a far-out behavior like forced castration of all males… (I suppose the ridiculousness of such a notion is where the humor lies here…?)
Please let us not turn against one another over this small misunderstanding. Life’s too short… trust me.

I will say that even though I never stated as much it seems some people here feel I think Audrey hates men. I do not, and that was not the point of my posts.
